The Trevor Project
(TW: suicide, self-harm) The prevalence of suicide among LGBTQ youth surpasses that of heterosexual youth by a factor of 1.5 to 3.
The Trevor Project, a nonprofit organization located in the United States, dedicates its endeavours to combatting suicide within the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning youth community. They extend their support through a toll-free helpline, connecting individuals to trained counsellors for assistance. Moreover, the organization extends guidance and resources to parents and educators to foster secure and all-embracing environments for young individuals in both familial and educational settings. My pronouns are They/Them, I identify as bisexual and I am also a non-binary person.
First and foremost, to me pride is a time to come together and celebrate who we are as 2SLGBTQIA+ people. It is a showcase of the strength we have by existing and being who we are. A time to celebrate those that came before us and the resilience they demonstrated that allows us to be here, the work we carry on. It’s a place to feel safe and accepted, to celebrate and to learn. We say LOVE ALL and show the world our strength and joy and celebrate what we have and all we strive to achieve.
About the model, Cam:
My pronouns are She/Her, I identify as lesbian.
I think that pride month is so important, especially now with everything going on in our world. By outwardly celebrating pride in places where we are privileged enough to do so, we are standing in solidarity with those who either cannot come out, or cannot celebrate.
