RDS Certified Parkas
The Responsible Down Standard (RDS) is an independent, global standard, recognizing best practices in animal welfare and ensures the down and feathers used in our products are sourced responsibly. The RDS was developed with input from animal welfare groups, industry experts, brands, and retailers.
Responsible Down Standard Goals
The RDS ensures that down and feathers used in MPG garments come from ducks and geese that have been treated humanely, enabling the animals to live healthy lives, express innate behaviors, and not suffer from pain, fear, or distress.
RDS certification takes into account the five freedoms of animal welfare:
- Freedom from hunger or thirst.
- Freedom from pain, injury, and disease.
- Freedom from distress.
- Freedom from discomfort.
- Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
The standard also monitors and verifies chain of custody integrity—from farm to finished product—to ensure claims that products labelled RDS-certified are accurate and true.
